North Thompson Recreation Society

The North Thompson Recreation Society is a non profit organization established in Barriere with a mandate to provide recreation programs and facilities to area families.

Membership $10 per person annually.

The volunteer executive and directors together with dedicated members provide a variety of programs with a primary focus on outdoor activities. A most successful cross country ski program for children has been the hallmark of the recreation society for the past eight years. Children ages 4 years through to teens are coached by certified community coaches during the winter months. Adult and senior lessons and programs are also available. Barriere Forks Recreational Park is a Picturesque day use area where approximately 5km of trails for Nordic Skiing, snowshoeing, walking and horseback riding have been developed and managed by the recreation society in recent years. A log warming hut and outhouse has been added to the park for the convenience and comfort of all park visitors.

The NTRS asks all visitors to enjoy the trails and facilities with respect and consideration of other user groups as well as the flora and fauna.
